BACKGROUND

 

Ladders earned a spot OSHA’s annual "Top 10" list of most-cited violations every year since 2005.​

 

​The estimated annual cost of ladder injuries, including work loss, medical, legal liability and pain and suffering expenses in the United States is a staggering $24 BILLION.

​Extension ladders have seen little design improvements over the past 100 years. A better product needed to be developed to increase the overall safety of ladders. Bigfoot Ladder systems, L.L.C has developed The Safety Ladder leveler and stabilizer systems (SLS) which directly addresses the need for safer ladder usage.

The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons published statistics that illustrate the dangers of ladder accidents:

  *In the United States more than 500,000 people a year are treated for ladder-related injuries, and that number does not include people who suffered injuries but did not go to a medical care provider for treatment.

  * About 300 people in this country die from ladder-related injuries annually.

  * Estimated annual cost of ladder-related injuries is $20+ billion, including work loss, medical, legal, liability and pain-and-suffering expenses.

  Further, according to the World Health Organization, the United States leads the world in ladder deaths. Each year, there are 532,000 people injured, more than 164,000 emergency room-treated injuries and 300 deaths in the U.S. that are caused by falls from ladders.
